Edge Computing

Written by Symestic | Apr 6, 2024 6:51:54 PM

Edge Computing refers to a distributed data processing architecture where data collection, analysis, and processing occur closer to the data source, or at the "edge" of the network, rather than in a central data center or cloud. This approach helps to reduce response times, optimize bandwidth use, and lower data transmission costs.

Edge Computing is especially used in IoT environments to enable real-time analysis and decisions at the site of action, which is crucial for applications such as autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and Industry 4.0.
