Auto-ID technology, short for automatic identification technology, comprises various methods for automatically recognizing, recording and transmitting information about objects, people or animals using electronic means. The most common Auto-ID technologies include barcodes, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), NFC (Near Field Communication) and biometric systems.
These technologies are used in the manufacturing industry to increase efficiency, improve the traceability of materials and enable automated processes. The integration of Auto-ID systems into Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and other production control systems supports the optimization of the entire production process and improves data quality and availability.
