You can see that OEE is dropping — but not why.

Yesterday's data not comparable unreliable downtime reasons

OEE is measured in many plants — but the causes of the losses stay unclear. Data lands in Excel too late, isn't comparable across lines and plants, and downtime reasons aren't reliably documented.

OEE software only fixes this if it delivers the data automatically and in real time — and puts it in the context of order, machine and quality.

From machine data to reliable OEE in three steps

1

Connect without a hardware project

IoT-box retrofit and OPC UA connect your equipment — from a 1995 controller to a 2024 machine, without changes to the PLC and without extra hardware.

2

OEE in real time

Availability × Performance × Quality are calculated automatically and shown live on dashboards and plant floor displays — the same view for the shift and for management.

3

Causes, not symptoms

Downtime is captured automatically and classified by the Six Big Losses; an AI normalizes free-text downtime reasons — so root-cause analysis becomes fast and reliable.

OEE software — answered clearly

What is OEE software?

+

Software that captures the availability, performance and quality of a machine automatically from machine data and combines them into the OEE metric — in real time, instead of manually in Excel.

How is OEE calculated?

+

OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality. SYMESTIC captures all three factors automatically and shows the losses per factor (Six Big Losses). Learn more in the OEE calculator and on the OEE blog.

What is a good OEE value?

+

An OEE around 85% is considered "world class" (≈ 90% availability × 95% performance × 99% quality). Many manufacturers are realistically at 45–65% — industry orientation values, not fixed targets.

What does OEE software cost?

+

SYMESTIC is a SaaS subscription: volume-based, with unlimited users, onboarding and updates included. See specific prices on the pricing page or on request.

Do I need new hardware or a PLC change?

+

No. Connection happens via IoT-box retrofit and OPC UA, even for older machines, without changes to your control system.

How fast is OEE software productive?

+

First line live in about 3 hours, first use case within days; typical payback is under 3 months.

Does the OEE software integrate with SAP?

+

Yes, bidirectionally. Proven at Meleghy via SAP R/3; Microsoft Dynamics and InforCOM are also connected.

OEE software or MES — what do I need?

+

OEE is one building block. SYMESTIC delivers OEE as part of a cloud-native MES platform, including order and quality context. Learn more on the MES platform page.

Does it run in the cloud — what about data security?

+

Cloud-native on Microsoft Azure with EU data residency; German Azure regions on request. ISO 9001 certified, GDPR-compliant; ISO 27001 under review.

What happens if the internet goes down?

+

The cloud gateway buffers data locally, so nothing is lost. Edge autonomy for up to a full production day is on the roadmap (coming).

Is 80% OEE good?

+

80% is above the typical manufacturing average (often 45–65%) and close to the "world class" benchmark of ~85%. Whether it's "good" depends on your industry and process — SYMESTIC benchmarks it 1:1 across your lines and plants.

Is OEE part of TPM?

+

Yes — OEE is the core metric of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean, used to quantify equipment losses. SYMESTIC measures it automatically so improvement work is based on data, not estimates.

See your OEE on your own data.

In the live demo you'll see your OEE logic on a real example — and how quickly availability, performance and quality become visible automatically, without any change to your control system.
