How to calculate your takt time

Takt time is the available production time divided by customer demand. With the optional fields you can also check capacity and the station requirement.

Set the available time
Enter the net production time per period – directly or derived from shift length minus breaks and planned downtime.

Enter customer demand
The quantity required in the same period. From time ÷ demand the calculator instantly derives the takt time.

Check the cycle time (optional)
Enter your actual cycle time. The calculator shows whether it keeps pace with the takt, how high utilization is, and what output is achievable.

Add work content (optional)
The sum of all tasks per unit determines the minimum number of stations the line needs (line balancing).
