Quality inspection software for manufacturing: inspect every part at the workstation, analyze every defect

With SYMESTIC's quality inspection software, operators inspect right at the station: scan the part, choose OK or NOK, tap the defect location on the product image. Every inspection becomes a record with serial number, product and time, and the analysis shows which defect occurs how often and what it costs.

Operator scans a part with the tablet using quality inspection software at the inspection station of an assembly line

The defect is on paper. The analysis never comes.

Defect check sheets are filled in at the workstation, retyped later or not at all. Which defect sits at which spot on the part, on which product and at which station, you only see once scrap or complaints pile up. By then the photo, the serial number and the time are missing.

How you inspect with SYMESTIC

1. Inspect at the workstation.

Operators scan the barcode with the camera of the tablet or smartphone, choose OK or NOK and, for NOK, tap the defect location on the product image. They select the reason from your catalog, with a photo if desired.

2. Consolidate.

Every inspected part is stored with serial number, product, station and time, in the same data model as part counts and stops. Scrap that the machine itself reports is counted automatically.

3. Analyze.

Top defect reasons, defect rate in PPM, first pass yield and scrap costs show where work pays off. One click leads from the bar to the individual part with photo.

What is included

Quality inspection by barcode scan: OK or NOK per part, with serial number

Mark the defect location on the product image, reason from your catalog

Up to three photos per inspected part, for defective parts and, on request, for good parts too

Record scrap and rework by reason, manually or automatically from the machine signal

Quality defect catalog with images and PDFs, as a slideshow right at the station

Top defect reasons, defect rate in percent or PPM, trend over time

First pass yield for parts with a serial number

Scrap costs in euros per product and period

Process capability Cp and Cpk per process parameter against your specification limits

Quality analysis with filters, image search, Excel export and report by email

Quality feeds directly into OEE

What SYMESTIC does not replace

SYMESTIC is not a CAQ system. Inspection planning, complaint and supplier management stay in your CAQ or QMS. SYMESTIC adds the inspection results from the shop floor via the REST API.

What does your scrap cost?

The scrap rate calculator shows rate and cost, the Cpk calculator shows whether your process reliably holds the tolerance.

Frequently asked questions

What is digital quality inspection?

Inspecting a part directly at the workstation on screen instead of on paper: result, defect location, reason and photo are captured immediately and stored with serial number, product and time. This makes every inspection analyzable, without retyping.

What is operator self-inspection?

Operators inspect the parts they produce themselves at their workstation, rather than handing them to an inspection station first. In SYMESTIC, they scan the part, decide OK or NOK and mark a defect directly on the product image.

Does SYMESTIC replace our CAQ system?

No. Inspection planning, complaints and supplier evaluation stay in the CAQ or QMS. SYMESTIC captures the inspection results on the shop floor and passes them on to third-party systems such as CAQ or QMS via the REST API.

How does SYMESTIC calculate first pass yield?

Measured as the share of parts with a serial number whose first pass ended without scrap or rework. It is displayed with thresholds and as a trend.

Do I need scanners or new hardware for this?

Usually not. The barcode is read with the camera of the tablet or smartphone, Chrome browser recommended. Scrap that the machine itself reports is added through the machine connection.

Can I adopt our defect check sheet?

Yes. You set up your defect reasons as a catalog, per station and product, with images and PDFs as a template for the operator. The reasons are translated so that everyone inspects in their own language.
